Mind controlled WM kick off

science in a teacup

I am not into football and so I did not watch any of the coverage of the opening of the World Cup last night. I was, however, very interested to read that science had played an important role in the first minutes of the tournament in Brazil. Juliano Pinto, who is paralysed from the waist down, made the very first kick with the help of a mind controlled super suit. The exoskeleton suit is the result of research and development done as part of an international collaboration called The Walk Again Project. Impressive stuff, shame I missed that – read more about it all here.
